Domestic Goddess Day
Tweet!
I love Monday’s! I know most people don’t, but it happens to be my day off. And I love it when I get to spend most of it at home taking care of “homelike” stuff! So today I cleaned, did laundry, went grocery shopping, and did some baking. Yep – I pretty much kicked homemaker butt. I decided to make an apple pie on the pretense that it would make my hubby all warm inside,
but the truth is I was craving apple pie …
Do you not love kitchen tools?? If I set out all the fun tools I have bought because I “had to have them” there would be no room left on my counters to actually fix anything! But this one is a must-have. Mostly because I love saying the name of it… its an Apple Peeler Corer Slicer. Yep – that was the best name they could come up with. Very creative, really.
So here is a tip when making pie crust. Don’t try to get away with using all whole wheat flour to make it more nutritious. There are some foods that just cry out for a little white flour – even though it gets a bad rap. This is one of those times when its the right thing to use so you don’t end up with this…
Pretty sad looking huh! It doesn’t roll out very well. And it doesn’t hold together so good either. I guess there is a reason you can use white flour to make glue. But I did my best to make it fit the pan and I popped it in the oven. While it was baking I decided to make Chicken Pot Pie for dinner – Yep, a two pie day…. seriously considering nominating myself for Domestic Goddess of the week. So I popped it in the oven too. They I swirled around the house in my dress and pearls as my culinary creations filled the kitchen with tantalizing smells. Ok it was a pair of jeans and some cheap costume jewelry -
can’t a girl pretend?? Then I pulled out the Pot Pie…
Mmmmmmmm. Fabulous! Then it was time to get out the apple pie with the uncooperative crust.
Oh baby – all is forgiven.
Big thumbs up from the husband, and I once again wear the title of Wife Extraordinaire!
Ok – enough domesticity- its back to being a working woman tomorrow.. costume jewelry doesn’t come cheap!
(Actually – it does! This one was only 3 bucks!)
Domestic and thrifty, what a gal!
