Dollar Store Decor – Amazing Wall Art!

As I mentioned last week, I am joining in on Living with Lindsey’s Challenge.

The challenge is to make something decorative using only $5 worth of items from

the dollar store. Of course – as usual I overdid it and gotĀ  $35 worth of stuff because

I couldn’t decide which project I wanted to do – so I am doing a few! I thought I would

post them in the next week and have you guys tell me what you think. I do ask that if

you are entering the same contest you don’t duplicate my projects :) Here is the one

I showed last week if you want to go take a look.

Dollar Store Cake Stand

So here is what I started with for this project -

Two picture frames, two Matt’s, a package of little wooden shapes,

and a piece of scrapbooking paper I got for 0.29 at Michaels. The rules

say you can use glue, paint, or paper that you already have at home.

Here is a close up on the wooden shapes -

Total cost – five dollars.

I started by putting the Matt into the frame.

Then I taped a piece of the paper onto the cardboard back of the frame.

See how tacky I am – the price tag is still on the paper!

I swear I either the laziest crafter on earth or theĀ  most impatient!

I put one of the wooden shapes on the paper and figured out placement

by putting the frame over it and moving it around till I liked it.

Then I put the frame back together and it was done! I made two

of them and found the perfect spot for them in my living room -

I had a hard time getting a close up shot because they reflected so

much light off of the glass frames -

So – tell me what you think! Seriously, I would love to hear some feedback. My dorky blog has the

comment button up at the top of the post – Thanks so much for stopping

by The Little Brown Dollar Store House…… Stop back in later this week for another

Dollar Store Decor reveal!!

Your project looks fabulous…so easy and yet so chic. This was a fun challenge. I spent just about as much as you did at the Dollar Tree…so many possibilities!
