Tasty Tuesday – Simple Sesame Noodles
Some of you may not know this – but I had a blog before I started
The Little Brown House in January.
It wasn’t notable – and I only had a handful of followers -
Melissa, Jessy, Taylor, Jan – Holla girls!
I did a post back then about one of my most used Pioneer Woman recipes. Since that was on my old blog , and I take way better pictures now anyway – I will once again present for your viewing pleasure – Pioneer Woman’s Simple Sesame Noodles. This recipe is not in her cookbook – she had it on her website. My family loves it and it is seriously quick and easy!
Two of my favorite things when it comes to cooking.
I will post the entire recipe at the end. So lets get started! Here are the ingredients.
You will find the sesame oil and rice vinegar in the Asian section of
your grocery store. You can also find Asian style noodles there, or
you can do like I did this time and use thin spaghetti noodles. I have
made it with both, and there is really no difference in taste.
Start by cooking your noodles according to package directions.
Drain the noodles and set them aside.
Mince 3 to 4 garlic gloves and put in bowl.
Add 3 to 4 green onions chopped.
(When I looked at the recipe I saw it says to add the green onions after
you mix the noodles and sauce. I did it incorrectly here, as I do in most tutorials!)
Now add 1/4 cup soy sauce -
2 Tablespoons sugar.
Have you ever noticed that lots of good tasting food has this ingredient?
Stir in 2 to 3 Tablespoons of Sesame Oil
And 2 Tablespoons Rice Vinegar.
What – you think I just used the same picture twice? Well, you are right..
All of the 15 pictures I took of me adding Tablespoons of ingredients look
the same – I can’t tell what is what! That is, until I noticed that I was
using that old orange Tupperware measuring spoon. It is one of the only things
left from when I was first married. Why is it that the unattractive things last
the longest! Anyway – I noticed it in time to change it out for the canola oil!
Stir in 4 to 5 Tablespoons Canola Oil and 2 Tablespoons hot water.
Mix it all together well – Pdubs recipe also adds 1/2 teaspoon hot chile oil.
I however, am a lightweight when it comes to spicy – so I leave that out of mine.
Now mix the noodles in -
Be sure you mix well to get the noodles completely coated with sauce.
At this point I add cooked chicken, but you could add any kind of
meat you have, or even eat them plain.
This feeds our family of three with enough left for me to take for lunch the next day.
And it also gives me a chance to use my cute pasta bowl and stand!!
You really should give these a try. They are amazingly good!
I think next time I will use whole wheat noodles
and see if they slip past my husband and sons radar.. You gotta throw
nutrition in wherever you get a chance!
Be sure to swing by the blog parties I am linking up to below – lots more fun stuff there!
Simple Sesame Noodles
12 ounces thin noodles, cooked and drained (angel hair, thin spaghetti, or Asian style)
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons sugar
3 to 4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 to 3 tablespoons pure sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon hot chile oil (more to taste)
4 to 5 tablespoons canola oil
2 tablespoons hot water
3 to 4 green onions, sliced thin
Whisk all ingredients (except noodles and green onions)
together in a bowl. Taste and adjust ingredients as needed.
Pour sauce over warm noodles and toss to coat.
Sprinkle with green onions and toss.
Serve in a bowl with chopsticks. Yummy!

Holla! Apparently I have to say more than just one word…your blog yelled at me and said my comment was too short when I tried to say just “holla”.

That sounds very YUM! I love to look at PW’s recipes but I’ve never made one because most use so much butter and/or cream that I just can’t bring myself to do it but this sounds good…might even throw in a tablespoon or 2 or peanut butter. Thanks!
