Dining Room Chair Slipcovers
Welcome to The Little Brown House! I have been a little busy this week and have only done one
post! But it was a good one – “These Brownies Are Made With What?“
go check it out if you love chocolate but not calories!
This week I wanted to share a frugal decor find I made.
I have this table and chair set in my living room – it is a big room and this
is where we eat when we have a large group. Our everyday table is just off
the kitchen. So this table doesn’t get used every week.
It means a lot to me. My Mother gave it to me, and it had been the table we
used in my house as I was growing up. Lots of memories.
I had watched my Mom work on stripping it down and restoring it.
She did the same with the chairs. I knew it would break her heart
if I painted any of them, yet I wanted a different look.
I wanted a temporary fix that wouldn’t change the finish.
So I decided to look for slipcover ideas, thinking I could make some.
I found these at Walmart.com for only $10 each! I may have been able
to make them for less as far as material goes, but for the time saved It
was well worth it to me to buy them!
The picture they have on the package looks stretchy and fitted, but they weren’t-
I slipped them on to see how I liked them, then I took them all off
and went and ironed them for my pictures!!
I really like the way they look – since the chairs are wood with no padding,
the covers are somewhat loose and hanging, but I have decided for some
reason that gives them a “beachy” look. And the muslin fabric adds to that
relaxed feeling too. I think it is perfect for summer!
Then I decided I needed to change the look of the table too -
So I set up a little book and lamp area. We don’t eat there often but
we do use it occasionally for games and puzzles.
Please forgive the blinding light!
I set up a few antique books I have. One of them is a copy of “Gone With The Wind”
from the late 1940′s that my Mom gave me -
I may end up padding the chairs a little – to see how that looks. It would
make them more comfortable too. But for now I am going to stay
with this look. That thin and anorexic look is rather in with all
the model/movie star crowd after all. And the closest I will ever come
to that is sitting in one of these chairs…
Thanks for stopping by – you know I love my readers and comments!!
Check out these other parties too!

The slipcovers look great, but I homed in on the Childcraft books. I loved those books as a child (my brothers and I called them the Orange Books) and I learned how to read with them. Thanks for a trip down memory lane. : )

Don’t have enough money to buy some real estate? You not have to worry, just because it is available to get the home loans to work out such problems. Thus take a short term loan to buy all you want.
