Hanging Plate Wall Art
I finally collected enough plates to do an arrangement on my wall!
Last month I was on Rhoda’s Southern Hospitality blog and saw this post about hanging
plates. She used these amazing discs from a place called Dischangers.com
I promptly went to their website and ordered some – they are very affordable!
I got an assortment of sizes, not sure where or on what I would be using them -but I knew I would use them!
I decided on a spot in my living/dining room, and begin putting together some plates to use.
This big blank wall used to have a clock on it, and nothing else.
It was a big clock.. I kind of have a thing for those..
I laid out the plates I had chosen to get an idea of the arrangement I wanted.
Then I had my husband come in and put the nails in the wall.
He measured the plates on the table and then the wall.. all of that nonsense
that I don’t have time for…
Then I got out my vast assortment of disc hangers.
I had exactly enough!
They came with great instructions.
You have to put some water on the sticky side using your finger -
then let them sit for 5 to 10 minutes.
At that point you place them on the plate backs – the instructions show where-
And then let them dry overnight. As usual, that was the hardest part for me!
The next morning I hung them up and snapped some pics -
The discs make them lay pretty flat against the wall -
I really love the way they look!
But – I do want you to help me decide something.
I found an additional plate that is a print.
I put it in the middle, and want your opinion of which way looks better -
The thing about this plate, which you may have already figured out,
is that it is a paper plate.. but it matches so well!!
I just don’t know if it looks dorky.. I would so hate to be a dork..
I have a morbid fear of dorkdom…
So tell me what you think!
Dork or No Dork…. that is the question.
And thanks for coming by The Little Brown House!

I like it better without the printed plate, paper or not I just prefer the look you have going there
Very pretty, love the colors and textures!

Aren’t DISChangers the best thing since ICE CREAM? I love them and even use them on hanging wood signs and frames. they are sooo much better than the claw hooks.
I have a fun project I am working on with them, in a totally different way than people may have ever thought of using them.
My opinion–I like an eclectic look, not too perfect so I would put the peint in the middle but then I would use the square plain on too, maybe move the bottom plates down and out. As you find other plates that would coordinate, I would do the same thing on the sides.
Thanks for linking up PERFECTLY.

Cheri – I know, I need to get over my symmetry thing! I am not that way with furniture, but for some reason when it comes to hanging things on walls I can’t get past it!

I like the printed plate, but I like the arrangement without it a bit better. The original square plate is just too pretty to cover up!

Thanks so much for sharing your plates with me! They look beautiful on your wall. OK, since you asked, I would not put up the paper plate, but leave the colors you have, as well as the square plate in the center. And I think the bottom 2 blue plates would look great spread out a little more and one more white plate placed in the center of them. That would give you 9 plates total and would really balance it out. Just my 2 cents!

I think I am leaning toward the plain look too, and I like the idea of adding some!
Thanks for the suggestion!

I can’t get over the paper part of the plate scenerio. I just don’t think I can agree to it but I like the print. I think I might have to say the paper plate on the wall is a little dorky. Don’t hate me though!!!!! I don’t want to be blocked!!!! Wait maybe that is not such a bad thing, I would save a lot of money, you and all your good ideas (grumble grumble). =)

Great job! I love plates on the way (I just used dischangers to do the same thing!) The pattern in the paper plate is so pretty – but I love it without more. I bet your creative thinking can come up with something for that pretty paper plate!

Hi,
Why not try putting the floral plate on as diamond rather than square? For some reason, I like the original plate square but the floral one maybe on diamond. I did like the suggestion above about putting them both up and spreading out the bottom ones. OR, Darn! You might have to go thrifting to find more plates?
Thanks for sharing.
