Dollar Store Framed Flatware
I am so excited to share with you a fun Dollar Store project
I made this week – and the total cost was only $2!
Can’t beat that!
Some of you may remember that I took my first trip to Hobby Lobby
this week – if you want to see how that went, you can click the link below.
One of the things I came home with was this shadow box of flatware:
Which I love!!
The fact that I got it at 50% off and only payed $11 was even better!
I decided to challenge myself to see if I could come up
with the same concept on the cheap.. although $11 is pretty cheap!
I went to my go-to cheap store, Dollar Tree.
I started with this picture frame.
The glass is raised by a plastic border underneath, which makes it resemble a shadow box.
I also picked up a roll of green print shelf liner.
I took out the mat that came with the frame, it had a baby bottle attached,
and that was not the look I was going for!
I left the plastic border in as it was a light green color that went well with the shelf paper.
I removed the cardboard back from the frame, and covered it with the shelf paper.
I choose 3 little pieces of flatware that I have had for years to go inside.
I glued them into position on the covered cardboard with Gorilla Glue..
This glue doesn’t mess around people- it gets the job done!
I could not slide the cardboard backing into the slots on the frame because
of the flatware on it. I ended up just glueing the cardboard to the back of the frame.
And I think it turned out adorable!
It can be hung either portrait style as shown, or turned sideways into a landscape style.
I realize that not everyone has extra flatware laying around to use,
but I know you can find it at thrift stores and yard sales for pretty cheap.
The fact that I used what I had with both the flatware and the glue is what
made this such a thrifty $2 project! But I think you could still keep it at around
$5 if you have to buy those things.
You knew you weren’t getting out of here without a photo shoot, right?
I had to dress it up and go all paparazzi on it, as usual!
Seriously folks – isn’t that one of the cutest $2 things you ever did see??!!
It makes me think of spring – and I’m lovin it!!!
I am also hooking it up with some Par – Tays -
go check them out!!
