Not Your G-Ma’s Wardrobe

Welcome to another exciting episode of “Not Your G-Ma’s Wardrobe”!

It feels like it has been forever since I have done one of these,

but in reality I only missed a couple of weeks.

I know you were all wringing your hands in despair…

A week ago I was still in Tennessee with my daughter and her beautiful family.

You can read about my trip here;

Home Again.

My first outfit is from my time there with my daughter – I managed to snap

a couple of pictures in between hugging grandchildren and waving politely

at the friendly southern locals.

Sorry for the blurry shots -(    Does hide the wrinkles though!

I so love this color, I need to wear it more often.

The shirt is new but the sweater and jeans are oldies but goodies.

Shirt – $10 – TJ Maxx

Sweater – I don’t remember!

Jeans – $18 – Macy’s

It was hot outside, but every place we went was air conditioned and chilly!

Most of the time I wore/carried a light sweater.

Back home, where there is less heat

and I can still get away with long pants!

I also love the color of this top – It looks to me like salmon.

Wouldn’t it be fun to be one of the people that gets to name colors?

Whatever you call it, I like it!

Jeans – $24 – TJ Maxx

Shirt – $15 – TJ Maxx

Vest – $6 – Local Store

Those of you that have asked about this vest will be happy to know that

while I was in Tennessee I went to a store that is owned by the same company

as my local store. Mine is called Fred Meyer, and it is a grocery/everything type

store like Walmart. My daughter took me into her local Kroger, which is owned

by the same company. So you may be able to find this vest in one of those!

This was me today.

It was right around 80 today, and as usual, cool in my office.

Thus the jacket.

And in the center picture you can see my leggings peeking out!

I really do get chilly..

Plus, there is something about wearing an elastic waist skirt made out of

uber thin fabric that makes me feel a little insecure..

I think it stems from a horrible de-panting episode that happened to me

in my teens while I was at a skating rink…I still have nightmares..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lots of the stores here are having great clearance sales right now.
I got this skirt this week for five bucks! I don’t always like how I
look in longer skirts, but this one is a little more body hugging
and I felt like I could pull it off. I really do love to wear skirts in summer,
they are so cool and comfy. Of course I still have to fight the alabaster
skin syndrome thing I have going with my legs though…
Skirt – $5 – Ross
Jacket- $12 – Ross
I will be hooking this post up again this week with
The Pleated Poppy’s “What I Wore Wednesday” party.
Thanks so much for coming by!!
    Beautiful as always! I’ve been busy with my cross country road trip/move so I’ve missed reading your blog. I just want to say that I love you in color! You should wear those bright colors all the time.
    I too, suffer from the alabaster skin since moving from Hawaii. I guess the upside is less wrinkles :)
    Glad you’re back and love the $5 skirt. It looks good on you! I have a lot of the salmon color and love it.
    Love that first top, Sharyl. The colors are great in it. The little black jacket is cute, too. That vest is a favorite of mine to see you in! It seems to go with quite a few different outfits.
    I think you’re adorable! Really — I’m not a grandmother yet, but I’m old enough to be. I need to beef up my back to work wardrobe and feel kind of lost between what I ‘think’ is cute and what people ‘think’ I would look cut in! Come to the midwest and be my personal shopper!
    You hit the nail on the head…you usually do look best in shorter length skirts (due to your “marshmallow on toothpicks” body type, but that new skirt looks FABULOUS! It’s the type of skirt that us “thunder thighs” can’t get away with.
    And what’s with torturing us with an amazing looking SOUP recipe in July? It happens to be 107 degrees here! I’ll have to save this one…always heard about making a roux, but have never attempted it. I was glad to see the pictures.
    Guess what I am making for dinner tonight? Your soup recipe–sounds delicious! I only recently came across your blog and I am having the best time catching up–you are so clever and funny–I laugh outloud at least a couple of times during each reading. I share your white legs and your OCD tendencies, I too am a frequent online bank checker–can’t help it! Thank you also for the “not your grandma’s wardrobe” posts–I really enjoy those. I am 47 and not yet a grandmother but I still enjoy clothes and looking nice (or at least trying to) but I don’t want to look like I can’t get out of the juniors department either. You always look terrific, and as far as the “marshmallow on a couple of toothpicks” comment above–not nice! I haven’t seen any shots of you looking anything like a marshmallow. Thanks for sharing, your home is lovely, your projects are terrific and inspirational and you are just plain fun!!
