Not Your G-Ma’s Wardrobe
Welcome to my Wardrobe post!!
I had a very busy week last week refinishing my kitchen island – you can read about it here:
Kitchen Island Cabinet Transformation
Because of this, I didn’t get many shots of my wardrobe. I did try a few, but they
were unfortunately, not blogworthy….. as in, they were really crappy..
I tried a new location in the house and it was just too dark. And I will not, under any
circumstances, use the flash on my camera.
That is the first thing you learn when you begin to get into photography.
Flash = bad picture..
I did get one set of shots of an outfit, however -
There is a story behind this dress.. but then isn’t there a story behind everything in my life??
I tried it on last week at my fave store, TJ Maxx. I fell in love with the ruffled bottom,
however, I did not like the way the top half of the dress looked on my at all.
It was $19 so I just passed on it. Then, of course, it haunted me…. HAUNTED I tell you..
I kept thinking how cute those ruffles would look with some boots.. and I thought I could
just add a jacket or sweater and not show the top part. But no…I showed resolve.. I should not
buy something if I don’t love the whole thing………..
…….I now refer you back to the HAUNTED statement.
Then I remembered that we just booked another trip to Nashville in October..
Tell me now – does this outfit scream Nashville or what!!
I took that as a God-ordained sign…
Hence the dress…

I had a commenter a while back who used to read my G-Ma’s wardrobe posts when I took
all my self pics in my bathroom in front of the mirror. She mentioned she kind of missed them…
I have to assume she had been drinking at the time she wrote the comment…
Anyway – I thought I would have a little nostalgic walk down self-portrait lane
for this post. I will show you some of the outtakes from Ye Olde G-Ma’s Wardrobe..
I call this one:
“The Purse That Ate Manhattan”
Don’t you adore the artistic angle and ‘over the shoulder’ shot?
The toilet in the back ground adds just the right touch of
Jou de vivre….
For this lovely shot I would refer you back to my statement
about the first rule of photography..
On the other hand, it is a stunning example of just how dirty
a bathroom mirror can get when you go through a 12 oz can of hairspray a day…
This one is from my Picassa period.
I plan on entering it into the State Fair this year….
This was the morning I got up to a 42 degree house.
Our furnace had gone out during the night..
This was my breakfast outfit..
This was the infamous clearance jacket that I wore
one time before donating to Goodwill.
You’re welcome.. it’s what was best for everyone..
And this one… well…
I have no excuse for this one.
Except for the fact that animal prints have a mesmerizing effect on me…
Thanks so much for joining for this walk down memory lane..
One of the things it did for me was cause me to throw my fist in the air and shout:
“As God is my witness I will never go curly haired again”
Which caused my dog to run and hide under my bed..
Seriously though – I think I may have liked my hair better when I straightened it every day.

On an entirely different note, if any of you have knowledge of a support group for
someone who puts pictures of themselves online and then makes fun of them
before hundreds of people, could you let me know?
I have a friend who needs such a group ….

That was fun, I remember the bathroom posts. When I first saw your dress and boots I thought “totally Nashville!” I really did. So cute!

I remember the bathroom shots! When you got your fancy remote clicker thingy, I had to get used to the non-reflected you–it took some time. I love you in that ruffled dress! I think you look great, fun, and young–but not like you’re trying to look too young. Isn’t that what’s its all about?
