Not Your G-Ma’s Wardrobe

Welcome to this weeks wardrobe!

This is the post where I show you what I wore last week.

I am chronicling my effort to stay stylish and look put

together at the ‘grandma’ time of my life.

And once again, hooking up with The Pleated Poppy’s What I Wore Wednesday party.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am having one of THOSE weeks… you know the ones..
Where you feel like nothing looks right..
Where everything you put on makes you look fat..
I love those weeks..
I have no idea what the symptoms of pre-menopause are,
but I have decided it must be a lot like Jr. High…
Where you are up and down with emotions – have a face that breaks out
at the drop of a french fry- and pretty much always look awkward and say the wrong
things all the time. What? Your Jr. High years weren’t like that?
Then I hate you and I will never speak to you again…OMG.
*bursts into tears and runs from the room, tripping on her way out*
Ok.. this outfit requires an explanation.
The church I work at loves to have all of their employes dress in
matching T-shirts for special promotions or events we are doing.
This one was to kick off our new sermon series – the front says Conviction.
I kind of slid the sweater off of one shoulder later so people could see more of the word..
*sigh*
I am a rebellious person.. have I told you that?
I seriously hate being told what to wear..almost as much as I
hate plain crew neck t-shirts.. so I usually try to individualize mine to
fit my style and personality. I know.. where is my sense of team?
I spell team  TEAIM..
If you get that I love you.
So -
Prison Grey T-Shirt – free
Grey Polka Dot dress- $10 – Ross
Yes, it is a dress, I put the t-shirt over it.
I am rebellious like that.
Ok. Here I am back to my non-rebellious grandma self. :)
Do you hate these damask pants yet?
The season is almost over and I will soon be retiring them for winter.
Oh, I might bring them out once or twice with my black boots.
I know I have told you before how easily I am sold on new hair products..
Well, I did it again this week.
This time the culprit was sweet Layla from The Lettered Cottage and this post:
Homie Improvement
She and her husband are working on a makeover at a house in Atlanta
right now, and it is hopefully slated for TV. So she had to get a makeover
for her hair! She was talking about this new hair tool, called a curling stick.
I ordered one from Amazon the next day….
                               Remington CI95AC/2 Tstudio Salon Collection Pearl Digital Ceramic Curling Wand
These come with a heat-resistant glove, as you have to hold your hair on the stick
with your hand, there is no clip like on a curling iron.
Does this seem like a bad idea to anyone else?
I will keep you posted!
Thanks so much for coming by!!
    I like your outfits. You are one “hip” grandma. I love my grandmother but she never dressed stylishly like you.
    The hair tool….it’s downright scary to me. It’s taken me half my life to learn to use a regular curling iron properly. I don’t think I have time enough left to attempt that iron. Do you have good insurance coverage? Good Luck with it.
    I think we went to the same jr. high!!! I feel just the same way most of the time and what is with the blemishes…omg…stop it already.
    I had to go back three times to check out the first photo…I still don’t believe it’s a dress…
    Seriously laughed out loud multiple times in that post! Jr. High reference–snicker. I in TEAM–chuckle. Crazy, dangerous new hair styling tool–snort. You rock! Oh, and good call putting the shirt over the dress. I’m not a fan of t-shirts either, so that was a workable solution.
    I have been following you for awhile on WIW and have even done a few of your projects. I love your outfits and I agree about the plain crew neck tees….yuck!!
    I have that curling in and I love it. Tip: use the upper (smaller) section more that the lower section and it will last longer and use a good heat protectant on your hair before because it will dry it out!!
    Can’t wait to see what your next project will be….
    You are so funny!
    It took me forever to learn how to use my straightening iron properly…UGH ~ It’s kind of scary that they give you a glove! Talk about stranger danger! It’s all new to me and scary! Good luck with that, Girl. Oh, do use the heat protection on your hair.
    Outfits are cute…Keep up the fashion shows, they are lots of fun and inspire me ;)
    Have a good weekend, M
    That curling iron seems dangerous and too small (barrel size) but I love the 1″ or even 1.5″ ceramic ones with a special cord swivel thing that keeps it from tangling up and makes it super easy to roll the hair. It slides easily for the kind of curl/straightening that some of us curlier haired girls like to do ;-) . I think the one I got was Hot Tools.
    And I feel the exact way about crew neck t-shirts. Or t-shirts that say anything really. Unless I’m painting the house.
    What happened to the curling iron that burned your face? I thought it made your hair so “big” and pretty. I think this quote was in “Steel Magnolias”, “The higher the hair, the closer to God”. Just think, a few more weeks and no more prescribed t-shirts.
    Speaking of hot hair gadgets – have you ever tried the flat iron cermic things to straighten hair? I’ve tried it and wow, did it make the hair flat out straight. But not really in such a good way for me. I had to try and put some body/curl back in afterwards!
    So, I’ve decided that only for extreme cases when the humidity is extra high or something, will I resort to the flat iron. Mostly for the hair in back because if I try to do the front it just ends up looking weird and choppy with my layers and bangs. The big barrel curling iron gives me enough smoothing for the front I think.
    I thought about straightening before a cut so I could get a nice clean line cut, then I’d have the option. But I cut my own hair and I’m not good enough to do it so cleanly. Maybe it’s time to go to a salon. But I live in a rural area so choices are quite limited.
