Not Your G-Ma’s Wardrobe
Hey there girlfriends! Just a short wardrobe post this week.
I am getting up at 3:30 in the morning to make my flight to
Nashville – and you know how much I need my beauty sleep..
I have a couple of outfits to show this week, and not only are
they both new, they are both packed snuggly into my
suitcase right now! Well, technically they could also be in
my son’s or husband’s suitcase. I stuff a weeks worth of things
into one carry on for the trip, so when they aren’t looking I
hide some of things in their bags… it can be a little embarrassing
for them when they come across a bra and a pair of spiked heels
during the search at the airport..
but hey – a girl needs lots of stuff you know?
I got this little dress at Target a couple of weeks ago when I was running in to
pick up some shampoo… Target knows just how to draw me in.
Have you ever noticed they keep the little things you need in the back so you
have to go past all of the super tempting stuff? Oh Target – you sly dog..
Anyway – the dress/tunic was on clearance for $12, as was the sweater.
I already had the leggings, and I have had those alabaster ankles for around 50 years now.
Look! It is me, doing what I always do around 8:30 every morning.
Standing in the living room striking a pose..
I got this skirt this week at Khols.
I will not say how much it was, as I believe my husband occasionally reads my posts.
It was more than I would typically spend on a skirt..
But it called to me.. it said “Hey little g-ma, wouldn’t this be so dang cute for Nashville?”
It totally had me at little g-ma..
And see those non alabaster legs? Those are not tights, they are over-the-knee
socks, and I absolutely had to have them..also from Kohls.
They are such fun! I know – socks?? fun?? Why yes, they are..to me.
But then that is just how I roll.
And this entire ensamble is also residing in one of the 3 suitcases
that are flying to Nashville in the morning..
Early in the morning..
Can’t wait till airport security pulls it out of my husbands bag…

I am also the same age as you.. I’m of similar thinking in many ways..
A few things to consider..
1. You never want to become a caricature of your former self.. As a younger woman.
2. Your harshest audience will always be from women you are trying to keep up with.
3. You have wonderful taste and talent.. I think most of us would agree… We are more interested in your talent .. Than your wardrobe. Enjoy your clothes, your life.. And don’t be hurt or offended if people don’t agree..

That striped dress is too adorable for words! Wait, is adorable the right word? I don’t want to make it sound like you look like a toddler. What I mean is that I will be heading to Target as soon as possible to see if I can find the same dress! Imitation is the best form of flattery, right?
Have a great trip!

That is waaaayyyyy too funny! I have that same skirt! Yes, got it at Kohls and yes, paid more than usual for it but I fell in love with it. I bought before going to my class reunion in August so I wore it with bare-naked legs, a white tank top, and a little sleeveless blouse I also got at Kohls. So I’ve been looking at the skirt and lamenting that I have to pack it away for the winter. And then you have the nerve to buy one and put it on with over-the-knee socks! Not to mention you partnered it all with BLACK – it looks absolutely adorable and I would NEVER have chosen black to go with it. So now I gotta start brain-storming about my own little “combo”.

Have a great trip. Great skirt and dress. I wonder if you might try that skirt paired with a jean jacket, olive or sage green top and maybe brown leggings and boots?

Hi Sharyl–Wanted to let you know I love your outfits isn’t it fun to get new clothes when you go away for a special occasion–I also usually like to pick up something new to wear from our vacation too.
Hope you are rockin your kicks in Nashville.
Oh I also wanted to let you know that the post for your 33 years together was priceless. What sweet memories. The picture of the two of you is adorable. –He certainly does not look his age either ( although I do not know his age) also the pictures of you sitting and waiting for him to return home are beautiful -you should be a dove model or should I say a covergirl model ?
