Bed Dressed For Winter
Some of you may remember that I dressed up my bed with an ocean inspired color scheme last summer.
Although I love these ocean colors
As I was watching the snow come down out the window
and looking at holiday decor, I found myself wanting to change my bed’s “clothes”
After all, “We are having fun wearing boots and furry warm sweaters for the season,
why shouldn’t our beds have the same versatility?”
At least that is the speech I had planned to give my husband when I picked up
my new bedding on a whim last week….
Turned out I didn’t need the speech – hubby still thought I was due some shopping therapy
after my massively emotional heart breaking “empty nest” weekend…

I knew I wanted to keep using our bedspread, which is tan on one side and white on the other.
You can see it on the right in the above shot. I got it last year at Target.
When I was trying to decide on a new color to go with it, I was leaning towards a pumpkin color.
Then I saw this plaid sheet set at Walmart, and it was all over for me.
I have always been a sucker for plaid, and that cranberry and tan
together was simply swoon worthy..
Of course, with my current low iron level everything is swoon worthy..

I started with the sheets, then went looking for an extra set of pillow cases.
I was tickled with this cranberry pair!

Then I found this sham.
It was part of a quilt set, but I really liked the look of it with the plaid.

When I got the bedding all put together,
I couldn’t wait to crawl in it with a cup of tea and a magazine!
No, it doesn’t completely vanquish the ‘empty next blues’…
but it sure puts a smile on my face when I climb in every night
Are you getting your house dressed up for the holiday’s yet?

Love both the ocean theme and the new bedding. Where might one find that bedspread? I love that is is white on one side and tan on the other. I need to get a couple for my home.

That is so pretty, Sharyl! And, you can use your bedspread either way with it. Love that sham! I would say swoon worthy, iron deficiency or not. I have a spa blue and brown in my bedding and drapes, but I kind of lean more toward the brown in the Winter months.

Wow! It looks so cozy for winter. I really love how you were able to change the look and still use your bedspread, how clever. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve added red to my bed for the winter as well. I do a lot of mix and matching as I’ve never bought a complete bed “set”. I love those sheets! I might have to go look for some.

Very pretty and comfy. Can you believe my husband has no earthly idea why I would want to change up the bedding? I tell him I want to make it “pretty” and he says he understands, but we’re just going to mess it up each night, so what’s the point? ARGGHHH!!! I’ve got a LOT of training yet to do with him.
