Whimsical Chair with Ce Ce Caldwell Chalk Paint
I have an old chair that I use when I am at my computer.
It is a beautiful chair, but I have been thinking about painting it.
The wood stain is lovely, but I have a house full of wood stained furniture.
I was thinking I would paint it a blue-green to go with my living room.
Then I heard about CeCe Caldwell Chalk Paint
It is made using all organic ingredients, mostly minerals.
It has no odor and is non-toxic.
I have used chalk paint before and really liked the way
it looks on older furniture. And I especially like the fact that
it doesn’t really need much prep before using it – aka no sanding..
I discovered a place in my area that carries Ce Ce’s paint.
Her name is Leslie, I purchased my beautiful entryway mirror from her shop.
She used Ce Ce’s paint on it.
She sweetly gave me a couple of samples of the chalk paint to try.
I decided the Alaskan Tundra Green would look great on my chair.
I wanted something more though, something to make it look a little whimsical..
Then I spied this picture on Pinterest:
And I fell in love with her chair!
So I ran with her idea
and bought some foam stickers.
I chose the ones I wanted and simply peeled off the back and
stuck them on the chair! Super complicated huh?
Then I began painting.
I did nothing to prep the chair except clean it-
The paint goes on well, it is a little drier than regular paint.
The first coat seemed very thin until it dried.
As it dries the color gets lighter.
I did two coats of paint, and after all was dry I covered it with the wax,
which can be purchased along with the paint.
I used one small jar of paint for this project, and a small amount of wax.
Usually when I use this type of paint I like to do a little sanding
on it to make the piece look more shabby and aged.
But I really like the way the chair looks right now -
I may abuse it later..
It is just so adorable!
I am in love with it..
I decided to put a little flower on her back too.
You know, just for attitude..
I may make a chair pad for her -
I threw this apron on her and she got a little coy..
I think she likes the ruffles.
Yep – she definitely stands out now
No more blending into the wood floor for her..
I am so happy with my new whimsical chair..
I believe all of the posts I write from it shall be full of creativity and joy…
And, be sure to keep an eye out for a Ce Ce Caldwell Chalk Paint giveaway-
There may be one coming to a Little Brown House near you..;-)
