Not Your G-Ma’s Wardrobe – Animal Prints
I like animal prints.
I wasn’t always fond of them, especially when I was younger.
I felt as if they were too ‘showy’….
I have changed….
Now I love their classic time-enduring look.
However, they can look overdone and unrefined if we aren’t careful.
In most cases, I prefer to pair them with neutrals.
But sometimes I will pair them with bright colors, in smaller doses. Like a handbag.
I have several animal print bags, I find they can really jazz up an outfit.
Here I am dressed casually, but when I throw on a colorful jacket
and add in my big bad zebra bag, it brings up the look up a notch.
This is one of my favorite tricks. I can be at home dressed down to work around the house,
Then when I have to go out to run errands, I cover up with a cute jacket and bag.
This makes me feel like I have a little flair And we all need a little flair sometimes, right?
I love the fact that they combine brown and black.
Hey – if nature does it, it must be ok right?!
You all know how I love neutrals.
It somehow completes me when I can combine two neutrals that seem so opposite!
The shirt I am wearing is from TJMaxx, I think it was around $12.
Gotta love the Maxx..
Notice the giraffe print bag combined with the leopard print shirt..
Now when those two animals combine in real life it is generally not a great outcome.
Fortunately it is not as dangerous in fashion.
Not to say the fashion world can’t be vicious and predatory…
I know we have all experienced those life or death fashion incidents….
It is one of my favorites.
When I wear it, I allow it to be the main thing.
I try to streamline the rest of my outfit so that it doesn’t need to compete.
Straight lines like my skinny jeans, simple canvas sandals, and plain hoop earings.
I didn’t show the bag I used with this outfit, but it is a plain gold and brown one.
That is my favorite way to dress – one high impact statement piece that is
showcased against a simple backdrop. Wow – that almost sounds like
home decorating talk doesn’t it? Guess the same principles apply!
Well, thanks for joining me for animal week here at The Little Brown House !
Hope you are having a great wardrobe week.
Have you taken a chance on an animal print lately?
